Choosing the right glass and hardware options not only helps you create the stunning look you are after, it also helps ensure that you joinery functions how you want it to. Do you want the heat kept in, the sun kept out, superior security?
Single glazed, double glazed, clear, tinted, patterned…
The choice of glazing is one of the most important determinants of the performance of aluminium windows and doors. Nulook offers a full range of glass options to ensure your home is comfortable.
Glazing products each contribute differently in protecting your home from the sun, providing insulation, reducing noise, ensuring privacy or providing a safe environment for family members.
Nulook joinery comes in a wide array of colours. Two commonly used architectural surface finishes for aluminium are powdercoating and anodising.
Powder coating is widely used within the building industry and is by far the dominant surface finish used today. Powder coated aluminium will give your project a durable, resilient colour finish. Because the application process is free of solvents and other chemicals it is safe for the work environment as well as the natural environment. Powder coating is available in a wide range of colours with commercially available surface integrity warranties from 10 to 20 years.
NALCO uses a range of colour products and finishes designed by AkzoNobel to suit most situations. AkzoNobel’s Interpon D architectural powder coatings range includes:
The anodising process involves immersing the metal in a sulphuric acid bath and then passing an electrical current through the metal. This creates an etching process. Colour is added to the bath, and the etching process seals the colour as a film onto the metal. This film then provides a hard wearing surface. The film’s thickness is an important determinant of how much protection anodising gives.
Film thicknesses available are 12, 20 and 25 microns. Anodising offers a limited range of colours. These are typically black, bronze, and silver, although other colours are available.
You should discuss these with your Nulook fabricator to understand limits and possible colour variations.
The advantages of anodising are:
It offers good resistance to salt air corrosion. We recommend a 25 micron film depth for maximum salt air protection.
